After my own pregnancy and postpartum experience with my son, and the lack of support I received, I realized how important 4th trimester support really is! I decided to go to midwifery school to learn and be able to support myself with my own future pregnancies. While in school, I grew more and more passionate about not only supporting and teaching myself, but spreading that help and knowledge to my community. I decided to not only get my doula certification, but to also go to school to become a Community Health Worker, so that I could become an advocate for the postpartum woman.

Bringing a new baby home is seen to be a time of joy and celebration. However, many new mothers and parents are instead suffering the weeks following birth. Exhausted and overwhelmed with sleep deprivation, breastfeeding problems and a lack of support they are struggling to enjoy their new baby and the first weeks of parenthood. A postpartum doula is there to alleviate some of that stress, and offer mental, physical, and emotional support.
